Abstract Paintings
My abstract paintings are created purely from my imagination using various tools in addition to brushes. Some of them may have a landscape or floral feel but the majority are non-representational, a culmination of colours, marks and texture. As the initial layers of acrylic paint are built up, the process is largely playful and experimental, responding to the intuitive nudging of "what happens if...". This continues until I begin to see something that appeals to me at which point the focus turns to what the composition needs in order to become a beautiful work of contemporary abstract art. My IT background and de-bugging skills come in handy at this stage! Sometimes it means letting go of bits I loved, adding a surprise or two, perhaps adjusting the colours to create more contrast. It is challenging but exhilarating when it all comes together. My joy is in the creating but in the end, I hope they bring you joy every time you look at them!
