I like to tell people that I have an art degree from YouTube University! I have taken many courses and workshops from so many artists who generously share their time and talent with others. I am extremely grateful to them for helping to speed up my journey of discovery as I seek to learn and find my place in the art world. Having said that, I have to say that most of my learning has come from simply painting a LOT, spending time in my studio, playing with paint, experimenting with tools, and creating without worrying about the outcome. It is generally thought that artists should have an area of focus, however as in life I have varied interests, so it is with my art, therefore you will find florals, landscapes and non-representational pieces among the work I have posted on the website. It is the process that I love. What ever the subject, I am usually painting from my imagination fueled by memories or impressions using an intuitive process that starts with a bit of an idea and a “Let’s try this and see what happens” attitude. The artworks all have some degree of abstraction with delicious colour and wonderful texture being the elements that I use to try to create excitement and interest. In the end, I hope that my paintings reflect my sense of optimism and contentment for the life that God has given me.
